Petaluma: Funds Support Both Historical and Modern Attractions
Downtown Petaluma strikes an eclectic and charming balance with its old fashioned architecture and vibrant mix of businesses and diversions. While the city of Petaluma still has a remarkable number of pre-1906 buildings including old Victorian, Queen Anne and Eastlake style houses, the iron-front buildings in the downtown commercial district form a special concentration of beautifully preserved history. These buildings house a distinctive combination of retail shops, farm-to-table-fresh restaurants, salons and spas, and professional offices.
Our team defined early on, that clearly preservation is a top priority for the community, which the Downtown Petaluma Business Improvement District (BID) helps to achieve. Assessments on businesses in the district fund targeted improvements and activities that maintain the attractions of the neighborhood and draw the visitors that keep the businesses and community thriving. The Downtown Petaluma BID demonstrates how tailored funding mechanisms can both preserve historic treasures and support modern commerce. Civitas was proud in assisting Downtown Petaluma to showcase all its charm.
